December 10th is International Human Rights Day! It is a day to celebrate the betterment of humanity, with the recognition of an international effort by all nations to help instill human rights in all areas of the world! While, there is still so much work to be done, every December 10th is a chance to look back at all of the progress that we, as supporters and humans, have gained over this past year, and to look forward to the future of humanity!

I would say that I’m a nonviolent soldier. In place of weapons of violence, you have to use your mind, your heart, your sense of humor, every faculty available to you…because no one has the right to take the life of another human being.

Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.

PRINCIPLES OF NONVIOLENCE
(adapted from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr)

Nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people.
Nonviolence seeks to win friendship and understanding.
Nonviolence seeks to defeat injustice not people.
Nonviolence holds that voluntary suffering can educate and transform.
Nonviolence chooses love instead of hate.
Nonviolence believes that the universe is on the side of justice.
